Welcome Beautiful!
Q1: How far in advanced should I book my wedding day services?
A: Weddings can be booked up to a year in advance and no later than 3 months to ensure your date. However, if you are in a pinch, let your artist know, as accommodations can be arranged.
Q2: How do I book bridal services?
A: All bridal service bookings are treated with a little extra TLC. Please contact by email through SkyesArtistry's contact page for more information or send an inquiry to skyesartistry@gmail.com. Phone call or video consultations can also be arranged.
Q3: How many services do you offer per bridal party?
A: I offer up to 7 services per bridal party to give each person proper attention without extending the getting-ready time.
Q4: Is a retainer required to book my wedding?
A: Yes, a 50% retainer of the total booking fee is required to secure your artist for your special day. This ensures that your date is reserved exclusively for you and allows the artist to prepare fully for your event.
Q5: Are there any travel fees?
A: Travel is complimentary for the first 30 kilometers, starting from Sarnia, Ontario. For any distance beyond that, a fee of $0.90 per additional kilometer will apply. Toll reimbursements and any parking fees will be calculated prior to event.
Q6: When should I book my bridal preview?
A: Previews should be booked 3-5 months in advance. It is recommended to book your preview on a day you have nothing else going on so that you receive 100% attention without the feeling of being rushed and having your mind on something else.
Q7: What is involved in a bridal preview?
A: The bride will discuss different looks and the details of the wedding with the artist, such as dress color, wedding color palette, and overall theme. This is a time to try different shades and make any adjustments. The bride will receive a complete makeup and/or hair service.
Q8: How should I prepare for the preview?
A: Arrive with freshly cleanse skin and clean hair. Second day hair is ideal for styling unless prone to oil. Please do not receive a facial or wax your brows and/or face closer than 5 days prior to the event. It’s very important not to have any facial waxing done during the week of your makeup appointment. This is because waxing affects the consistency of the makeup and can end up looking patchy in the areas that have been waxed.
Q9: How long does a bridal preview run?
A: An average of 1.5-2 hours.
Q10: Do I need to bring anything to the preview?
A: It's recommended that the bride bring in inspiration photos of makeup that are similar to their features. Please keep in mind, SkyesArtistry does not replicate other artist's work, but is happy to incorporate certain elements to create a custom look that reflects your unique vision. Check out SkyesArtistry's Vision Board for Makeup and Hair ideas, or I can create a customized look that suits your features and style.
Q11: Can I bring a guest to my preview?
A: Previews are reserved exclusively for the bride to ensure a personalized, focused experience. At this time, I do not accommodate guests or additional party members during preview appointments.
Q12: Why is the brides makeup more expensive than the bridal party?
A: More time and attention is spent with the bride from the very first day of contact, up until the day of the wedding. From phone calls, emails, contracts, and creating day-of schedules to the extra time spent getting the bride ready on her big day, additional touch-up time, and spending extra time on her makeup, the focus is always on her. Since the bride is the main client, as it’s her wedding day, all of this is included in the price. Since it’s a group, the others are less, which, if the bride is paying for them too, saves her money. The artist has to earn a certain amount for blocking out the time it takes too. The costs are all the artist's own–time, education/skills, products, mileage, and general costs of running a small business. That’s why the charge may seem a higher rate in general.
Q13: How long will my makeup and/or hair take on the wedding day?
A: Typically a total of 1.5 hours is allotted on the bride's makeup and 1 hour on hair, depending on the chosen look. Bridesmaids will take about 45 minutes to 1 hour each unless someone has requested a more in-depth look.
Q14: How should I prepare for my wedding day services?
A: Have everyone in the bridal party arrive with freshly cleansed skin and clean hair compatible for fresh makeup and/or hair. Exfoliate your lips so that your lipstick will stick, and whiten those pearly white teeth so that your smile stands out in photos. On the day of, wear a robe, button-down or zip-up shirt to avoid disturbing your makeup and/or hair when changing (SkyesArtistry provides a robe for brides to wear during services). Then, sit back, relax, and enjoy the pampering before you walk down the aisle.
Q15: Are touch-ups included for my entire bridal party?
A: Yes! Typically for every wedding, 15 minutes is blocked off before leaving to ensure that everyone looks perfect! The artist will check for any smudges, reapply lips, apply powder or setting spray before leaving if needed. Additional time is used for clean up and packing.
Q16: Can my bridal party add any additional services on the day of?
A: Sometimes a family member or bridal party member may request services on the day of, which is completely fine if time allows! Any added service will be invoiced separately via email and must be paid in full by the next 3 business days, unless other arrangements have been made in advance.
Q17: Am I allowed to have eyelash extensions on while you do my makeup?
A: The answer is YES! I’m able to work around the lashes while avoiding getting makeup on them. Alternatively, if you prefer to wear strip or individual lashes I have plenty of styles and lengths to choose from.
Q18: If I get oily throughout the day, what should I do?
A: Try using blotting paper for touch ups. It wicks away oil while leaving makeup undisturbed. Simply pat and apply the blotting paper to oily/shiny areas of the face and use a light pressure for a few seconds.
